Veteran's Day Flag Raising
This free community event welcomes veterans, neighbors, community members, and elected officials to gather and witness the flag-raising at one of the area’s newest development projects. Just as the flag-raising ceremony symbolizes a new beginning, this event marks the beginning of an exciting renovation project for the Ken-ton Community at the former Phillip Sheridan School.
During this ceremony, the old flag will be lowered and retired and the new flag and light put into place. The new flag was graciously donated by the American Legion - Milton J. Brounshidle Post No. 205, and the dedicated light for the flag’s 24/7 illumination is sponsored by Paul Wolf and The Paul Wolf Insurance Agency.
Milton J. Brounshidle Post 205 Commander Ted Balbierz and Post Legionnaires from the Milton J. Brounshidle Post 205 - Ray Borawski, 1st Vice Commander; Wayne Baumgartner,2nd Vice Commander; Ruth Ann Coppola, 3rd Vice Commander; Mike Walsh, Finance Officer and Bob Haug, Adjutant, will be participating in the ceremony.
Darlene M. Knutsen, Retired Staff Sergeant, Air Force Law Enforcement Specialist and U.S. Army 206th MP Company and O’Connell & Company Board Member will also participate in the event.
Mary Kate O’Connell of O’Connell & Company, shares, “The flag is a symbol of our nation’s strength and unity. The Ken-Ton Community also symbolizes unity and strength. We’re thrilled to part of this community.”
Hosts of this event are Phyllis and Thomas Siskar and John Duerr of Ken-Ton Elmwood Commons LLC and O’Connell & Company Productions. Event participants will include Blue Giraffe Day Care, Ken-Ton Chamber of Commerce, American Legion - Milton J. Brounshidle Post No. 205 and The Paul Wolf Insurance Agency.
“Flying the American Flag over our building is a source of pride and inspiration.”, stated Ken-Ton Elmwood Commons developer Tom Siskar. John Duerr, the project manager said, “I am honored to welcome this new flag to our complex, it shows that we stand for honor, peace. It speaks to our dedication to Democracy, freedom, the rule of law, human rights and equal opportunities for all.”
