65th Anniversary Kenmore Mercy Hospital

Kenmore Mercy Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, celebrates 65 years of service to the Ken-Ton community on Friday, October 7, 2016.
In 1940, James Sullivan donated the eight acres of the Kenmore Mercy Hospital as a gift in gratitude for his favorite teachers at a Sisters of Mercy school, St. Bridget’s.

Today, the hospital continues to build upon that legacy by continuing the Mercy Sister tradition of serving those in need and helping to bring about healing and comfort.
Established on October 7, 1951, Kenmore Mercy Hospital delivered 821 babies and treated 3,450 patients during its first year of operation.
Over the next 65 years, the hospital increased in size and added an array of programs, services, and technological innovations, to meet the changing needs of patients in the growing community.
The hospital has since added new services, like the Knee & Hip and SleepCare Centers and opened offsite locations to serve neighboring communities. It has also expanded its surgical services in recent years with the building of two new state-of-the-art operating rooms and a new ambulatory surgery unit, as well as the purchase of the robotic-assisted technology – the MAKO for joint replacement and daVinci for complex general surgery and colorectal conditions. In 2013, a new Emergency Department was opened also.
“While medical technology has unquestionably changed at the speed of light in the past 65 years, dedication and a compassionate healing environment remains the hallmark of Kenmore Mercy,” said James Millard, Kenmore Mercy Hospital president & CEO.
“No matter what the role, associates, physicians and volunteers really care and truly love those they are providing healing for,” he added.
